Brian Wilson was a team-mate of Workington Town legend Brian Edgar when both played as teenagers with Workington Zebras.
He was also one of the Workington Reds fans who made the trip to Leyton Orient in 1955 to see the West Cumberland side pull off one of their greatest FA Cup shocks with a 1-0 win.
These days he is engrossed by the Rugby Union World Cup hoping that England can go all the way to the final and bring the trophy back over the Channel.
But in between whiles, Brian has devoted his life to the trade union movement and the Labour Party.
I caught up with him this week at his home for a chat about his sporting interests, and also about his life in politics.
It proved a fascinating encounter as you can hear here…..
