The Cumberland FA and Westmorland County FA has organised a Play Safe competition for youngsters.
They are giving mini soccer players the opportunity to win a game at either Kendal Town, Workington or Carlisle United’s grounds.
English football is set to unite again this weekend to promote Play Safe – a campaign to focus attention of the vital importance of safeguarding in the national game.
Led by The Football Association, the Play Safe campaign is endorsed by the NSPCC and will be supported this weekend across every level of English football, including the Premier League, EFL, Barclays Women’s Super League and Barclays Women’s Championship, and across the grassroots game.
This season clubs and leagues at every level of the game, (and individuals if they wish) are being asked to say what they are planning to do to make a difference over the Play Safe weekend and to share this via an online Play Safe Pledge.
This was sent to all junior club secretaries and this weekend, all mini soccer players will receive a bingo card.
When the players receive the bingo card there will be a series of tasks, once they are completed, clubs just need to email the county FA a picture of the card crossed off and the relevant boxes filled.
The four tasks are:
- Try my best in training or a match
- Shake hands with my opponents or teammates
- Shout encouragement to my teammates
- Have my parent, carer or guardian complete the free online parents safeguarding course.
The prizes are:
- Carlisle United – Brunton Park – Westmorland v Cumberland fixture
- Kendal Town – J Robs Grounds Maintenance Stadium – Westmorland v Westmorland fixture
- Workington – Borough Park – Cumberland v Cumberland fixture
All games will receive their own matchday programme, a county FA appointed referee and access to the players’ tunnel!
