A pair of walkers were forced to shelter overnight on a Lake District fell after taking a wrong turn.
Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team was called by police at around 2am on Sunday about the walkers, who were climbing Scafell Pike.
There was concern over their safety because the weather was poor and although the mobile phone signal was patchy, the team discovered they were near the stretcher box at Mickledore.
The team and police decided the best course of action was to wait until first light to rescue the walkers, as the box was a source of shelter.
The walkers were contacted first thing and the walkers had sheltered inside the stretcher box, but there was also a report that one had a leg injury.
The team, supported by Duddon and Furness Mountain Rescue Team, went out, with additional fell-going members for a potentially long stretcher carry.

A spokesman said: “Once on the scene, rewarming with additional clothing and food and drink was provided, alongside a medical assessment and some pain relief.
“This enabled the walker to mobilise sufficiently to walk off the fell under his own steam after some additional rope protection was provided down Mickledore gully for extra confidence and security.
“The rest of the walk off proceeded well and the walkers were escorted safely down to the valley. Both teams then returned to Wasdale base for some hot refreshments and pizza. Thanks once more to Duddon and Furness Mountain Rescue Team. We also hope the walkers are none the worse for their unplanned night on the fell.”
