Maryport Rugby League Club have been putting in a big effort with their youth section – and are reaping the benefits.
There was an exceptional turn-out for the junior presentation of awards – all after the mini-marras had been involved in a final training session.
Coach Simon Pattinson said: “We held the main presentation for the Under-6s to Under-9s and the room was full of youngsters and parents which was brilliant.

“It’s been a terrific season and all the kids have come on well, learning the game and having a good time at the same time.
“There were some worthy individual winners but everyone left with big smiles on their faces which is the main goal.

“We are already looking forward to next season, planning more school visits and a school competition.
“Each year it’s all about developing the young players as our long-term plan is to develop our own players from the youth system right the way through to the open age.

“We feel the future is bright with us working hard as a club to make it happen.”
