Officers investigating the theft of a £2,000 quad bike from South Lakeland have arrested a man from County Durham.
The 18-year-old man, of Darlington, was arrested earlier yesterday in County Durham on suspicion of theft after a quad bike worth over £2,000 was stolen overnight on September 17 from Crook, near Kendal.
The man is in custody and is assisting police with their enquiries.
Chief Inspector Lee Skelton, rural crime lead, said: “Cumbria Constabulary is committed to making Cumbria the most hostile environment to travelling criminals.
“Today, officers from the dedicated Rural Crime Team have worked with colleagues in CID, Intelligence, Operational Support and our counterparts in Durham to arrest those responsible for recent rural acquisitive crime.
“The message of Operation Lantern is clear; travel to Cumbria to commit crime and we will travel to your county and bring you to justice.”
