A leading Cumbrian auction house is holding free pop-up valuation events across the county.
Mitchells, based in Cockermouth, will hold an event this Friday, October 13, at St Mary’s Hospice in Ulverston in aid of the charity and one at Millom Library on Friday, October 27 between 10am and 2pm.
Recent events have yielded some valuable items including a Victorian Indian silver horse racing trophy, brought in for appraisal during a charity event hosted by South Lakes valuer David Brookes at the hospice.

It went on to be sold for £4,000 in Mitchells Antiques & Fine Art Sale in September.
Another recent charity pop-up event in aid of Coniston TIC resulted in some very interesting and valuable items being brought in for appraisal and potential sale.
First in the queue at the door was a gentleman from Grange-over-Sands with his collection of 1966 World Cup memorabilia, including tickets for the final at Wembley.
A very rare Victorian/Edwardian footman’s outfit from Grizedale Hall near Hawkshead was also brought in, probably the only one in existence.
Other items included a Coniston Railway cap, an early 19th century sampler, various items of jewellery including a diamond ring worth £1,000 and a collection of William Longmire Lake District watercolours.
People are invited to drop by for a free valuation in return for a donation to support the vital work of the hospice.
Meanwhile, Mitchells is also launching weekly drop-in valuations at their saleroom in Cockermouth every Friday from 10am to 2pm.
The firm said it was particularly keen to see pictures by local artists to feature in a special section of Cumbrian art in its next Antiques & Fine Art Sale, which runs from November 29 to December 1.
