A Keswick man caught by police on two different dates in possession of more than a kilo of cannabis has heard he could be handed a prison sentence.
The total estimated value of an illegal substance stash recovered by officers from Fabian Anthony is said to be almost £17,000.
Anthony, 33, admitted two offences when he appeared in front of a judge at Carlisle Crown Court today.
Both involve the illegal possession of cannabis with intent to supply it to another. The first crime was committed on June 2 and the second on September 7.
Cannabis weighing in at 1.690kg is said to have been seized by police across those two days. It is estimated to be worth around £16,900 if sold in its entirety to users on the street.
After Anthony admitted the two charges, his barrister Andrew Evans said of the offending: “It appears to be street dealing.”
Judge Michael Fanning adjourned the case for preparation of a probation service pre-sentence report.
Anthony is due to be punished at the crown court on November 6. He was remanded in custody until then with no application being made for bail.
Judge Fanning said to Anthony: “Possession of a fairly significant quantity of cannabis — on not just one occasion but also a second occasion after you had already been detained for specific like offending — is serious. I make you no promises about the outcome of this case.”
All options, including a prison sentence, will be open to the sentencing judge, the court heard.
