Pigeon shows set to start next month

The 2023 winter series of pigeon shows in West Cumbria will be starting next month.

The first show in the Union Jack Club is being put on by Workington Victoria FC on Friday, November 17 and will be for old cocks.

That will be followed by old hens on November 24; Young cocks on December 1, young hens on December 8 and ticket winners, fancy coloureds on December 15.

Judging will start at 7.30pm and entry will be 50p a bird.

There will be a prize of £20 for the winner of each show and £20 for the fancier with most points in the series.

Flimby Homing Society are starting their series of shows on Wednesday, November 8 at the Flimby Sports and Social Club.

Old cocks will get the series underway with judging at 7.30pm and entries will be 50p a bird.

The other shows will be: old hens on November 15; young cocks on November 22) and young hens on November 29.

There will be a £25 prize for the winner of each show and £25 for the fancier with most points in the series.

Both Flimby and Workington Victoria will be holding show races but details will follow later.
