Barrow Raiders captain Jarrad Stack has signed a new one-year deal until at least the end of the 2024 Betfred Championship season.
The 35-year-old first joined the Raiders ahead of the 2017 campaign and has gone on to make a total of 143 appearances in Barrow colours.
He was appointed club captain ahead of the 2020 season and has remained in the role ever since.
The Australian has been based in Cumbria since 2009 and spent eight seasons with Workington Town where he proved an influential performer.
Last season, Stack proved to be a key figure within a Raiders pack decimated by injuries. Leading from the front, he featured 24 times and helped the club preserve its Championship status, and this new deal will allow him to continue to play on for the Raiders next year.
During the 2023 campaign, he also 300 appearances in the UK.
After signing he said: “I have been at this club for a while now, and for me, it is where I will eventually hang up my boots.
“The Raiders have been very good to me over the years, and in 2024, I want it to be a good one for the club and the fantastic supporters.
“Three hundred games was a very proud moment for me and my family, and I would like to think I have a few more to go.
“I feel very privileged that I have been able to do them all in Cumbria and captain both Workington and Barrow – I think I need seven more appearances to make it 150 games for Barrow as well.
“The goal again will be to make the finals in 2024. We survived in 2023 with a very thin squad due to an endless list of injuries and departures.
“Our director of rugby, Andy Gaffney, was always trying his best to bring players in and do his bit, and was also quick to get me to sign on for another year.
“For me, 2024 will no doubt see us have a healthier squad, new signings and a good pre-season under our belt so we’re ready to go for Round 1.”
Barrow Raiders chairman Steve Neale said: “We are delighted to get Jarrad back on board. He has been one of our most consistent performers over a number of years and a player who leads by example.
“We’re looking forward to more of the same from him throughout the season ahead.”
