Anti-social teens banned from areas of Penrith in court again

Two teenagers, found to have breached an anti-social behaviour injunction, have appeared in court.

The 17-year-olds were banned from entering four areas of Penrith as part of the injunction, imposed on September 15.

Four teens in total, who cannot be named because they are under 18, were given the injunction because they were identified as being involved in a significant number of incidents of crime and disorder in Penrith over the previous year.

But police arrested them on October 18 after it was found they entered one of the zones.

At Carlisle Magistrates’ Court yesterday, the teenagers were given a four-month supervision order for breaching the terms of the injunction.

This breach comes only days after both had appeared in court for a previous breach.

Eden Neighbourhood Policing Team inspector Mo Bibby said: “Officers in Eden’s Neighbourhood policing team are committed to tackling anti-social behaviour in our communities.

“Yesterday’s result shows that we will utilise all legal tools available to Cumbria Constabulary to protect our communities from this persistent behaviour.

“We will not tolerate breaches of orders or conditions and we have contempt for the act of criminality, which has no place in our communities.”
