Sunday saw the 71st running of the historic Brampton to Carlisle 10-mile road race, officially the oldest 10-mile road race in Britain, writes Paul Grindley.
The race started at 10am from just outside Brampton’s William Howard School on Longtown Road in the town and made its way to Carlisle along the A689, with the finish on Eden Bridges near Carlisle’s Sands Centre.
Previous winners of the race have included Ron Hill, Steve Cram and Angie Pain and there was a large turnout of runners from all over the country lining up to take part.
