In a remarkable NPL Premier Division game, Workington shared eight goals at Marine to continue their unbeaten run.
It was the third successive away game without defeat, following a 3-0 win at Basford and a 1-1 draw at Whitby.
In a hugely entertaining game both sides went for it and there were opportunities at both ends on a regular basis.
In a pulsating first-half Workington fought back from conceding the first goal to lead 2-1.
But then Marine hit back and went into the break with a 3-2 advantage.
Reds vulnerability at corners surfaced again after only six minutes when Nathan Woodthorpe put Marine ahead, poking home from six yards.
The equaliser on 16 minutes provided Dannen Francis with his first Workington goal. He was on hand to fire in off the underside of the bar after the home keeper Felix Goddard had fumbled a shot from Dav Symington.
It was Symington, who was looking dangerous anywhere near goal, who fired Reds in front on 25 minutes.
Again the keeper could have done better but the strike swerved and was hit with such power that he could only help it into the net.
But all the good work in recovering from such a wounding start was undone before half-time.
On 32 minutes Michael Carberry let one go from 25 yards and Danny Eccles had no chance as it arrowed into the top corner.
Then right on 45 minutes some slack work allowed Sol Solomon in on goal and he scored clinically with a shot across Eccles into the far corner.
Four minutes into the second-half and Reds were level again. Francis delivered a perfect cross and Steve Rigg finished with a well-placed header.
But parity lasted only four minutes for when Marine were awarded a free kick on the edge of the area Louis White lifted it over the wall and past Eccles.
Workington had a chance to level but Rigg headed a Joe Bunney cross wide from a good position.
But it was Bunney who put Reds level again in the 81st minute. Symington was brought down in the area and Bunney slammed the spot kick down the middle into the roof of the net.
