Workington stretched their unbeaten run to four games after twice coming from behind to earn a 2-2 draw against Morpeth in dreadful weather conditions.
Despite heavy overnight rain Borough Park was in good condition although the poor weather on the day restricted the crowd to just over 500.
However, under the circumstances those present were served an entertaining contest, although it took some time to get going.
Not that Morpeth were slow out of the blocks as they got off to a flying start when Andy Johnston got in on the left and his low cross was slid home by new signing Nic Bollado at the far post after just two minutes.
Workington had the best opportunities after that but were unable to get on terms by the break. Morpeth keeper Dan Lawson held a Dav Symington effort at the second attempt. Then he produced an excellent stop with his feet to deny Symington again.
Steven Rigg had an opportunity when he got free to reach a cross from Joe Bunney but he steered a shot on the run well wide.
It was Symington, however, who did find a way past Lawson on 55 minutes. Jamie Devit put him through with a defence-splitting pass and Workington’s top goal-scorer thumped an angled drive high into the net past Lawson.

Morpeth responded immediately and the home side were undone by a ball over the top. Keeper Danny Eccles slipped as he tried to come out to avert the danger and Sam Hodgson took advantage by slipping the ball past him and into the empty net.
Workington had most of the ball and got their second equaliser after 69 minutes with a bit of good fortune. Finn Wallbanks’ optimistic cross from the right deceived Lawson and dropped over him into the net.

Workington were reduced to ten men on 83 minutes when Joe Bunney was sent-off for a second yellow card offence. Even then they could have won it but Lawson made a fine close-range stop to deny Niall Brookwell.
Then after the final minute both home manager Danny Grainger and Symington were shown red cards in an argumentative conclusion to the contest.
Reds are back in action on Tuesday night when they entertain Worksop Town who were without a game today because of the current playing ban on Marske United. Worksop are 4th in the table with Reds lying 14th.
