A Lake District hotel group has raised over £7,000 for Jigsaw – Cumbria’s children’s hospice.

The hospice was the family-owned Lake District Hotels charity of the year for 2023.

Dani Hope, director of Lake District Hotels, said: “We are delighted to have exceeded our fundraising goal of £5, 000 for Jigsaw. The unwavering support from our suppliers, staff, and the local community to make this possible has been truly heart-warming.”

Funds were raised at events including gala dinners, charity quiz nights, a Royal Ascot Ladies Race Day, raffles, festive bingo night, Christmas dog walks, staff Christmas jumper days and more.

Martha Pardoe, fundraiser for Jigsaw, said: “A real highlight of our partnership with Lake District Hotels was the Royal Ascot event where Annie, whose sister attends Jigsaw, was given the floor to talk about what a difference Jigsaw makes to her family’s life.”

Donations which have made all this fundraising possible have come from Lake District Hotels Ltd, Porsche South Lakes, Caterite Food & Wineservice Ltd, Pioneer Foodservice, Elemis, ishga, Herdy, Lakes Distillery, Peter Tyson plus many more.

Lake District Hotels, which operates six hotels, will soon open nominations for their 2024 Charity of the Year, continuing their tradition of supporting local causes.

In the past, the group has supported organisations including Amy’s Care, Blood Bikes Cumbria, Keswick School and Keswick Scouts. Since 2016, the group has raised over £65,000 for various causes.
