Former Carlisle United midfielder Jason Kennedy has found a new club in the North East.
The 37-year-old was marooned along with his team-mates when Marske United resigned from the NPL Premier Division last week.
United had struggled financially and after games were postponed by the League the club took the decision to resign and seek a place lower down the pyramid structure.
Last night, however, four of the Marske players were registered for the Northern League Division One side Redcar Athletic.
It resulted in a 1-0 win at Northallerton with one one of the quartet, the experienced Adam Boyes scoring the only goal after 38 minutes.
Boyes scored 29 goals in 85 games for Barrow between 2011-13 and has been a prolific marksman throughout his career which started at York City 15 years ago.
Kennedy, Boyes, Curtis Round and Kevin Burgess have all moved from Marske to Redcar Athletic and were in the starting line-up at Northallerton.
Last Saturday Redcar were beaten 6-3 at Frenchfield by Darren Edmondson’s free-scoring Penrith side but are likely to be a sterner test for most opposition from now.
Kennedy played 94 games for Carlisle United between 2015-19.
