Barrow forward joins Morecambe on loan

Barrow forward Ged Garner has joined fellow SkyBet League Two side Morecambe on loan until the end of the season.

The 25-year-old originally joined the Bluebirds during the winter window last season, where he established himself as a regular figure in Pete Wild’s side.

To date, he’s made 39 appearances for Barrow and has directly contributed towards eight goals.

However, due to a mixture of injury and high competition in the attacking line at the SO Legal Stadium in the current campaign, Garner has only recorded 795 minutes of playing time in the league this season.

So the former Fleetwood  Town Striker will now link up with the Shrimps on loan until June 30.

Pete Wild said: “Since we brought in Ged last year, he has shown glimpses of the real quality he possesses. However, unfortunately, due to injury and real competition for places, he hasn’t had the run of games needed to show everyone what a top player he is.

“Ged has come to see me about going out on loan to get a run of games and after a good discussion we decided it was best for both parties for him to go out and play.

“I’m sure he will get up and running and show his true qualities.”
