Barrow missed out on a place in the automatic promotion top three when they went down 3-1 at home to Crewe Alexandra.
It was a disappointing end in match 13 to Barrow’s long unbeaten home run.
Barrow have been in great form for most of the season and this was a rare off day against a lively Crewe side.
Last month Barrow had won at Crewe but this victory edged the visitors ahead of the Bluebirds in the League Two table.
Crewe, in fact, are unbeaten so far in 2024 but they might have been in trouble after conceding the opening goal.
Robbie Gotts had put Barrow in front after only nine minutes but it was to prove to be the Bluebirds best moment of the game.
Crewe were level ten minutes later when Elliott Nevitt scored his 11th goal of the season as he finished well from a cross by Chris Long.
The visitors were the better side in the first-half and should have turned round ahead but Nevitt wasted two good chances before the interval.
Teenager Lewis Billington gave Crewe the lead on 64 minutes after great work from Shilow Tracey saw him chase what seemed a lost cause. He kept the ball in play before squaring an inviting pass for Billington to tuck away from six yards.
Another teenager Matus Holicek made it 3-1 six minutes from time when he came on from the bench and headed in the rebound after Courtney Baker-Richardson’s initial shot had been saved.
