Adam Morilla’s win limited the damage to the Rack Shack.

Workington’s United Club A moved to the top of Division One in the L&L Property Contractors Snooker League.

They did so with an impressive 5-0 victory over Division Two’s Workington Veterans Club B.

Wins for Dave Chapman and Clive Lister quickly gave United A a 2-0 lead and with Peter O’Hagan taking the third the Division One side moved to a 3-0 advantage.

The fourth frame proved to be a lot closer but as Mark Suitor fell over the line United A were now on the verge of a whitewash at 4-0.

In the last United A captain Andrew Mitchelhill was quick to find his potting form and in restricting his opponent to just 6 points he powered to victory to record a clean sweep for his team.

Division Two leaders Workington Veterans Club A travelled to fellow second tier opponents in Whitehaven’s Rack Shack and with a 3-2 win they extended the gap at the top to nine points.

A victory for Andy Moore put the Rack Shack 1-0 up, however as Vets B captain Kevin Basnett produced an excellent break of 65 in frame two parity was delivered at 1-1.

A third frame Vets B win made it 2-1 and as Mark Tatton played with confidence to take frame four the Workington side were assured of the win as the match score advanced to 3-1.

The final frame of the fixture gave the Rack Shack the opportunity to nick a point and as Adam Morilla duly delivered the Whitehaven outfit limited the damage.

Maryport Social Club produced one of their best performances of the season so far with a 4-1 home victory over Workington Golf Club B.

The all Division Two clash saw Golf B’s Ryan Pearson put his side 1-0 up but a close victory for Greg Todd in frame two got Maryport back into the match at 1-1.

One of the frames of the week soon put the Social side 2-1 up as Andrew Sharp produced a break of 48, a contribution which has allowed the Maryport cueist to lead the category three break averages.

Andrew Scott won a close fourth frame to make it 3-1 and when Gary Miller delivered a similar victory in the last the Maryport outfit ended the match feeling good about themselves at 4-1.

The all-Division One fixture between Station Road Club and Flimby Social had the away side ahead in the form stakes but with a 4-1 home win for the Workington side, title chasing Flimby were left licking their wounds.

Victories on the last couple of balls for Mike Walker and John Teasdale got the match score moving along nicely and with another late win, this time for Mark Robertson, Station Road went 3-0 up.

More pink and black drama in the fourth saw Chris Hunter make it 4-0, however it was  Kevin Kirkham who claimed a point for Flimby in the last with a beautiful break of 48 to boot.

Finally, Workington Conservative Club made the short journey to face the United Club B and with a 3-2 victory the Division One side presided over their second tier opponents.

Julian Plaza took the first in convincing fashion and with another win from team mate Dave Holland the Cons moved into a 2-0 lead.

The third frame proved to be a closer affair, and in using all his years of experience it was former county champion Alan Moore who ensured the Cons match victory at 3-0.

As always, even though the result was decided, two points were still on offer and with Wayne Sinclair and Jamie Flitton up for the challenge the United Club B cueists took frames four and five to finish with a very respectable 3-2 match scoreline.
