Two fire crews were called out to a kitchen blaze at a Carlisle home and had to rescue a cat.
Firefighters from Carlisle East and Carlisle West stations were called out at around 7.15am to Almery Drive.
Crews discovered a well developed fire in the kitchen of the property, which had started in a tumble dryer.
Firefighters said: “Damage to the property was limited to the kitchen because the homeowner wisely closed the kitchen door to stop fire spread, and they had working smoke alarms in the property which gave them an early warning.”
They added the cat was none the worse for wear following its rescue.
