Whitehaven will include a young trialist in their squad for Sunday’s big clash with Workington.
Owen Bridle, from Askam, plays hooker or loose forward and has been training with Haven throughout pre-season.
“He’s trained really hard and I think he deserves a run out,” said Jonty Gorley ahead of the Ike Southward Memorial Trophy game.
Haven won the 1895 Cup game at the Fibrus Community Stadium two weeks ago after a slow start when Town deserved their half-time lead.
Haven came back to win it by six points but Gorley is insisting on a more front foot start on Sunday.
“We have been slow in both our recent games and I have challenged the lads to change that on Sunday,” he said.
The Haven squad is: Ross Ainley, Dion Aiye, Owen Bridle, Lucas Castle, Jamie Doran, Oscar Doran, Will Evans, Edene Gebbie, Guy Graham, Lachlan Hanneghan, Ryan King, Evan Lawther, Jake Maizen, Owen McCarron, James Newton, Joe Romeo, Curtis Teare.
