Penrith made a wasted trip to Anselmians on Saturday when their Regional North West 1 game was postponed.
A 10am pitch inspection had prompted a call to say the game was on so the Penrith party set off as planned.
But when they got there, the pitch was in a dreadful state and the referee called it off.
One Penrith traveller said: “They said the pitch had been inspected because there was a possibility of it being waterlogged.
“After being told the game was on we travelled and got there to find it was a real cludge-hole.
“There were bits on the pitch that looked like a load of bullocks had been standing around a water trough.

“Indeed there was a definite danger of drowning, pinned at the bottom of a ruck.
“So we have to travel down there again next week forking out another £850 for a bus down to the Wirral.”
