Tuesday evening’s action in the Carlisle Snooker League saw Inter Qzone maintain their chase of their club rivals Qzone at the top of Division One.
At the same time SECC C stretched their lead at the top of Division Two over second place SECC by winning their clash at the top of the table.
In Rock A v InterQzone the opening frame saw Mike Nixon return to play his first match for InterQzone for a couple of months against Dave Currie for The Rock A.
It was a tight game with few chances to build any big breaks. Mike had a narrow lead going to the colours, but a loose safety shot allowed Dave in, to pot from brown to pink to take the frame 49-31.
The second frame saw Ryan Ridding off to a slow start against John Metcalfe after he fouled on a black at the start of the frame, but once he settled down he was able to produce some lovely potting.
He was just not landing in perfect position to build a break until the last couple of reds were on the table. It was at that point he produced a 20 break to clinch the frame 66-18.
The third frame between Paul Scott from The Rock and Simon Towns was an entertaining game, in which Paul took control early on and looked set for victory, until it got to the colours.

Simon potted the yellow and then whilst attempting a safety shot on the green, it rolled into a pocket and he landed in perfect position on the brown. He was then able to pot the remaining colours to snatch the frame on the black with a 27 break by 47-41.
Frame four was dominated by Michael Waring for InterQzone against Peter Milburn. Michael produced some wonderful potting, particularly in the middle pockets, to build two breaks of 20 and 22 which won him the frame 76-21.
The final frame was all about the break building ability of Mike Griffiths. He produced a 20 break early on to put him in control against Neil Walby. Unfortunately for Neil, he wasn’t able to get on a colour once potting a red and paid the price.
Mike’s next chance at the table saw him take it and he rattled up a 53 break to win the frame 78-7. It meant Inter Qzone won the match 4-1 and with two bonus points for an away win, that became 6-1.
Qzone Originals continued the chase for promotion with a hard fought 4-2 win over Maggie Mary’s in Division Two.
In the first frame Matt Lowrie won a close affair against Tony Fisher 51-42 with both players potting well, but Matt having just enough to get over the line.
Frame two saw the in-form Ian Cleminson level the match score at 1-1 for Maggies, when he also potted some crucial balls to beat Dan Sanderson 60-47.
Frame three was a match between the two team captains. Trevor Pattinson came out on top for Maggies over Gordon Berry by 69-39. Trevor got a few reds with high value colours which helped him to always be in control of the frame. This put Maggies 2-1 up on the night.
Frame four saw the experience and smooth potting of Chris Errington to a win over Ian Troughear. Chris potted well and used his good safety game to dominate Ian, with the score finishing 59-6.
It was much the same story in the final frame as well, as Peter Lowrie beat Lawrence Waters 58-5, which clinched the match for Qzone 3-2 and the extra bonus point for a home win made the final score 4-2 to them.
