People are urged to help give back to their community and take part in the Great Cumbrian Litter Pick later this month.

Taking place on March 22 and 23, the Great Cumbrian Litter Pick will see several events taking place across the county and they need you to join in.

Now in its seventh year, the event, organised by Friends of the Lake District, has seen divers litter picking the depths of Windermere, dog trainers using their dogs to find litter and schools, groups and individuals taking part.

The charity said people have found all sorts of rubbish from plastic bags and wrappers to typewriters and toy soldiers found on beaches.

Last year, 270 people took part and collected 90 large bin bags full of litter across the two days of action.

Duddon Valley volunteers help pick litter for last year’s Great Cumbrian Litter Pick.
