Two goals in added time at the end of each half improved Barrow’s promotion hopes at Holker Street.
They beat relegation-threatened Colchester United 2-0 to consolidate their place in the play-offs.
In first-half stoppage time Kian Spence curled in a free-kick for his seventh goal of the season to push Barrow ahead.
Then at the end of a competitive game, with Colchester desperately seeking an equaliser, the Bluebirds broke away for Ben Whitfield to set-up Sam Foley to score the second from close range.
Colchester were losing for only the second time in nine games and they certainly made Barrow work hard for their success.
Barrow keeper Paul Farman had to make two top saves, one in reach half, to deny Tom Hopper and then Cameron McGeehan and Pete Wild’s side have had easier victories this season.
Barrow are sixth, but significantly are five points clear of the play-off chasers and have matches in hand of most of them.ReplyReply allForward
