Kendal Town lead off the county non-league action tonight with a trip to AFC Liverpool.
Jimmy Marshall’s side are looking for a seventh straight win in the North West Counties Premier Division.
They have burst back into the play-off picture after a disappointing January when they failed to win a single game.
Early League leaders Kendal beat AFC Liverpool 1-0 in the first day of the season, when a single James Bailey goal was enough to take the points.
In the Northern League time is running out for Carlisle City after a late-season blip has slowed, or even stopped, their push for a play-off place.
It’s rapidly approaching the last throw of the dice for the Cumbrians and it’s a tough one in prospect tomorrow at Birtley Town.
Birtley are fourth in the table, five points better-off than Carlisle City who are down to ninth. Jim Nichols’ side virtually need to win all their remaining eight games to get themselves back into play-off reckoning.
The second of those eight fixtures is on Tuesday night, and it’s the return fixture with Birtley at Gillford Park.
Penrith, meanwhile, are back at Frenchfield tomorrow and they are also up against a team pushing for a play-off place. West Auckland, currently third in the table, are the visitors.
Darren Edmondson’s men were disappointed to go down 4-2 at Northallerton last weekend and the manager is looking for a return to form on home territory.
In the West Lancashire League Premier Division both Cleator Moor Celtic and Whitehaven are away from home.
Stuart Shaw, the Celtic manager, was delighted with his side’s performance last week in coming from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with title-chasing CMB – and then finishing the game with just nine men.
That was a terrific effort given that CMB had only lost once, and drawn once, in a season which has seen the Bolton side win 19 times.
Tomorrow Celtic travel to Poulton who are three places and six points better off than the Cumbrians having played a game less.
Whitehaven came good in the second-half last week to beat struggling Slyne with Hest 4-1 and tomorrow the travel to Hurst Green who are 8th, two places better than the Cumbrians and have three points more from four less games.
In the Wearside League Windscale, who beat Annfield Plain 3-1 in midweek, have no game.
Workington Reds have also been left without a fixture in the NPL Premier Division because of Marske United’s earlier resignation.
