A chance conversation with the Swinton coach led to help from the Lions for Workington Town’s Tony Murray.
Town were preparing to face League One title favourites Oldham at the Fibrus Community Stadium tomorrow with several key players missing.
Murray said: “Alan Kilshaw rang me to ask about Whitehaven as they go there on Sunday and we have played them twice recently.
“After we’d finished I asked if he’d any players he could help us with because of our injury situation.
“He suggested Richard Lepori and Brad Hammond and we have now taken them on loan for at least two weeks.
“I know Richard, he’s been around a while. He’s a pocket rocket and very experienced while young Brad has had good grounding in Australia and has impressed Alan since arriving at Swinton.
“We will start Richard on the wing and have Brad on the bench as he can come on at centre or in the pack.”
Town will be without Dave Ecclestone, Ethan Bickerdyke, Jack Stephenson, Connor Saunders, Malik Steele and skipper Stevie Scholey.
Murray said: “To be honest I’m looking forward to the challenge. I know we have some good players missing but that’s what we have a squad for and the others will get a chance to show what they can do.
“I’ve watched Oldham three times this season and they obviously have an experienced and good squad who have already put up some good performances.
“But the challenge will be to match them and I’ve been very happy with what we’ve shown in training and out there on the pitch so far.”
