Three teenagers were arrested in Workington town centre following the Good Friday Uppies and Downies game.
Cumbria police’ Allerdale Neighbourhood Policing Team said the match had run smoothly without issues and there were good spirits throughout.
However, they said, it was overshadowed by events in the town centre as there was a large gathering of youngsters acting “in a disorderly and disrespectful manner”.
A 14-year-girl was arrested for being drunk and disorderly, who kicked two officers and spat in an officer’s face.
Allerdale Neighbourhood Policing Team said: ” This behaviour will not be tolerated by officers who do not come to work to be assaulted.
“There is no excuse for this behaviour and we will continue to take action.
Officers will continue to patrol the town centre throughout the Easter holidays and deal with any issues that arise.”
A 13-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy were also arrested for affray.
