A banking hub will open in Ulverston.
Cash Access UK said it has secured premises at 1-3 Market Street for the facility, which will give customers the chance to talk to staff face-to-face.
It will be the second in Cumbria. The first hub opened in Maryport last year.
The hub will offer a counter service operated by the Post Office, where customers of all major banks can carry out regular cash transactions, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.
It will also offer a Community Banker service where customers can talk to their own bank about more complicated issues on the day their bank is in the hub. Community bankers will work on rotation, with a different bank available on each day of the week:
- Monday: NatWest
- Tuesday: Lloyds
- Wednesday: HSBC
- Thursday: Santander
- Friday: Barclays
The hub will open later this year.
The Hub was recommended by LINK, the UK’s cash access and ATM network, following the announcement of the closure of the town’s last remaining bank branch.
Simon Fell, MP for Barrow and Furness, said: “I’m delighted that we’ll soon see a Banking Hub in Ulverston. This will offer full counter services, including cash access, 9-5, Monday to Friday and will be a significant uplift for local residents who want to see their bank face-to-face.
“I’d like to thank Cash Access UK, the Post Office, and LINK for working so hard to get this project over the line and for listening to local residents’ concerns when I raised them with them. This is a really important step forward for Ulverston and I can’t wait to see the new branch open and serving the community soon.”
