Barrow AFC have postponed a planned summer family disco as a mark of respect to the town’s Dave Myers.

The family disco had been planned for Saturday, June 8 but will clash with a memorial event for the Hairy Biker in the town.

In a message on their official website the club said: “Barrow AFC regrets to announce the postponement of our Summer Family Disco, originally scheduled for Saturday June 8.

“This decision comes as a mark of respect and solidarity with the memorial events planned for the esteemed Dave Myers, who is better known as one half of the beloved duo, Hairy Bikers.

“Myers was a cherished figure in our community and beyond. He touched the lives of many with his warmth, wit, and culinary prowess.

“As Barrow-in-Furness prepares to pay tribute to his memory on June 8, it is only fitting that we align our efforts in honouring his legacy.

“While we understand the disappointment this may bring to those who were eagerly looking forward to the summer disco, we believe that participating in the memorial events is a meaningful way for us to come together as a community and celebrate the life of a remarkable individual.”
