People are invited to two events to find out more about the Carlisle Southern Link Road.
The events will provide the opportunity for people to view the final design and ask any questions about the programme of work directly to the project team.
It will connect Junction 42 of the M6 with the A595 to the west. The route will include new junctions linking existing radial routes into Carlisle and the Garden Village.
These events will also gather people’s opinions to help Cumberland Council with some final decision making on the placemaking elements of the scheme, it said, like the use of ponds and other amenities, and planned features and landscaping on the roundabouts.
The events will take place on:
- Tuesday April 30 at Cummersdale Village Hall from 9am-8pm
- Wednesday May 1 at Wreay Village Hall from 9am-8pm
Cumberland Councillor Denise Rollo, Executive Member for Sustainable, Resilient and Connected Places, said: “The Carlisle Southern Link Road is an ambitious project and has the real potential to transform the city and provide a major boost to Cumbria.
“I’d strongly encourage people to take the time to get involved, read the materials and attend one of the events – it’s important that local people have their say so that together we can make the scheme the best it can be.”
