Significant damage has been caused to footpaths in West Cumbria by off-road bikes.
Cumbria police’s Allerdale Neighbourhood Policing Team said it had received several reports regarding Flimby Woods, near Maryport, about the bikes and possibly quadbikes using the paths.
The team said: “These woods are used by dog walkers and children. Officers will be paying attention to the area. The woods are private land accessible by public footpath, the use of any kind of off-road bikes/quads is prohibited unless you have the land owner’s permission.
“Significant damage has been caused to many of the footpaths.”
