A teenager has been seriously injured after she was dragged under the front wheel of a bus in Carlisle.

Police are appealing for witnesses as part of their investigation into the incident, which happened between 4.10pm and 4.15pm on Thursday, May 2, on London Road, at the junction of Chertsey Mount.

It was reported to police yesterday, Friday May 3, that a 14-year-old girl’s bag got trapped in a school bus door while she was getting off.

The bus, a white coach, had then set off dragging the girl under the front wheel.

The girl suffered serious leg injuries.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward to help establish the full circumstances of the incident. They also want to hear from drivers who may have dashcam footage which may have captured the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 and ask to speak to PC 2746 Barr. Report online at www.cumbria.police.uk/report-it, quoting incident number 92 of 3 May.
