Cumbria have made it out of the group stage for the first time in the NCCA T20 competition – despite being rained off in Carlisle yesterday.
The two points they gained from having both matches with Staffordshire abandoned were enough for them to top Group One ahead of their scheduled opponents, as well as Northumberland and Cheshire.
They had won both games against Cheshire at Toft on Sunday while the games against Northumberland were both abandoned.
The winners of Groups 1-4 will host the Super 12s. These groups will rotate on an annual basis to allow equal opportunity for all group winners to host over a five-year period.
NCCA reserve the right to change the host venue for the Super 12s if the geographical locations of the Super 12 group counties create operational challenges.
All of which means that Cumbria have to sit and wait to see who they play and whether the NCCA consider that Cumbria provides geographic challenges!
But basically, Cumbria should get a home game (which will provide it’s own challenges to host three teams).
The three teams play each other (eg A v B, A v C and B v C) at four venues and the winners go forward to finals day in Cheshire.
