Cumbria start their 2024 National Trophy campaign on Sunday at Keswick against Bedfordshire.
For the last four finals Cumbria have made it to Wormsley only to be beaten each time by Berkshire.
Steven Croft, the Lancashire county player, has already made important contributions in the two T20 victories over Cheshire, including a half century.
He will make his 50-overs debut for the county, along with Lancashire team-mate Harry Singh against a Bedfordshire side beaten on Monday by Berkshire in the T20 competition.
Only one of the two scheduled games was actually played with Berkshire (192-9) winning quite comfortably as Bedfordshire were bowled-out for 75 in 17.4 overs.
On Sunday it had been one win apiece when Bedfordshire took on Hertfordshire. They lost by seven wickets and then won the second game by six wickets.
Amrit Basra had been the match winner with 70 not out off just 33 balls, and that included five sixes. The 21-year-old is a product of the Northants Academy.
But that was Bedfordshire’s only win in the competition and they finished bottom of Group 3 with five points – having three games washed-out.
Cumbria, however, progressed through winning Group 1 and they will now host the next stage at Keswick on May 19 when both Lincolnshire and Herefordshire will be involved in the shoot out to decide who gets through to Finals Day.
Meanwhile the Cumbria team for Sunday is: Freddie Fallows, Sam Dutton, Steve Croft, Harry Singh, Matthew Sempill, Michael Slack (capt), Greg Cameron, Finlay Richardson, Ed Moulton, Nico Watt, Sam Sharp.
