Leagues set up for rugby union

Keswick and Kirkby Lonsdale (Ben Challis)

The leagues have been formulated in rugby union for next season at levels five and six.

The top two-ranked teams in Cumbria, Kendal and Penrith, will have to plan travel to Newport (Salop) and Stoke-on-Trent who will now be competing in Regional 1 North West.

Although Cockermouth have lost their place in Regional 2 North, there is another entry in Kirkby Lonsdale.

Aspatria, Keswick and Upper Eden remain from last seasonĀ  and they have now been joined by Carlisle, making a five-team involvement from the county.

The full line-ups are:

  • Regional 1 North West: Newport (Salop), Rossendale, Blackburn, Wirral, Manchester, Stoke-on-Trent, Kendal, Stockport, Penrith, Anselmians, Leek, Birkenhead Park.
  • Regional 2 North: Northern, Middlesbrough, Durham City, Aspatria, West Hartlepool, Morpeth, Consett, Upper Eden, Keswick, Kirkby Lonsdale, Carlisle, Guisborough.
