A Day’s Walk Farm Shop and Deli is set to open its doors in Kendal’s latest shopping destination.
The store, which sells Cumbrian produce, is in Spinning Jennies on Finkle Street and will open on May 24.
Spinning Jennies, in the former Beales department store, is a multi-use food and retail hub with an emphasis on Cumbrian produce and makers.
Geri Ward, who with her partner, William Smith, is behind the Spinning Jennies project, said: “We are dedicated to crafting an inviting atmosphere that will soon transform into a hub for folks of all ages, both residents and guests alike.
“Spinning Jennies will be a haven for discovering Cumbrian treasures, thoughtfully crafted and served by local independent businesses. Whether it’s unwinding in the charming shops and expansive food hall or taking home a piece of the local lifestyle, everyone is welcome to savour the experience.”
A Day’s Walk has a range of over 400 items, all sourced within a day’s walk of the Lake District.
It is run by Colin and Emma Sneath.
Emma said: “People are often surprised when we say that our shops are the only 100% local produce shops in Cumbria, but the reality is that the present-day farm shop model increasingly relies on products sourced from further afield, sat alongside local items. There’s nothing wrong with that, we’re all trying to make a living, it’s just not what we do.
“We believe that when we say we’re local produce champions, that’s what we’re committing to deliver and that’s what customers expect to find when they visit our store.”
