Work is due to begin in two Cumbrian locations to bring full-fibre broadband to homes and businesses.
Broughton-in-Furness and Caldbeck are the latest places to see work start shortly by Fibrus, thanks to the Government’s Project Gigabit.
Contractors are set to move into both places soon and Fibrus has pledged to keep any inconvenience to residents and businesses to a minimum.
The build forms part of Fibrus’ work to connect tens of thousands of people living and working in rural Cumbria to high-speed connectivity as part of a £108 million government contract.
Project Gigabit is the Government’s mission to bring lightning-fast, reliable broadband to hard-to-reach communities across the UK.
Chris Collins, head of network build at Fibrus, said: “At Fibrus, we use a full-fibre optic cable all the way to the premises creating a quality and reliability that cannot be achieved any other way.
“This will make a big difference to local businesses and families in Broughton-in-Furness and Caldbeck, allowing them to access more reliable broadband rather than having to rely on slow copper wires for their internet.
“Once the work is complete, people will be able to take advantage of Fibrus’ Full Fibre Broadband, with speeds of up to 1Gb.”
