Workington Comets young Australian Tate Zischke put up a commendable performance in a SGP 2 qualifier in Macon, France.
He scored eight points from his five rides, but he had been forced to retire in his first race before winning his second.
Zischke, a huge success for the Comets in his first season of speedway in the UK, then had a third and two seconds to finish joint sixth alongside American Alex Martin.
Casper Henriksson of Sweden led the qualifiers with 14 followed by Wiktor Przyjemski (Poland) on 13; William Drejer (Germany) on 12 and Leon Flint (GB) also on 12.
Just missing-out on 12 after a run-off was Mikel Anderssen of Denmark. The Austrian rider Sebastian Kossler had scored to finish fifth.
British teenager Ashton Boughen finished just behind Zischke with seven points.
