While former Workington players are joining Bury in numbers, the Reds are collecting their own group of ex-Annan Athletic players.
Josh Galloway became the fourth from the Scottish club to agree deals at Borough Park – joining Kai Nugent, Stephen Swinglehurst and Alex Mitchell.
Galloway will meet his new team-mates this weekend when Mark Fell holds his first pre-season training session.
The 22-year-old came through the youth ranks with Carlisle United before joining the Leeds United Academy.
While there he spent time on loan with FC United of Manchester before he moved north of the border with Annan Athletic.
He spent two years with Peter Murphy’s side and now the midfielder has returned to Cumbria, and to Workington where his father Mick had two spells in the early 2000s.
Reds boss Mark Fell said: “I briefly worked with Josh at Lancaster when he was potentially coming on loan from Leeds.
“He’s all the attributes that we are looking for in that type of player – he’s strong, fast, technically excellent and can be used in a variety of positions.
“I remember him torturing my Lancaster side when he played for FC United. He knows our Division and in my opinion can still progress much higher. We want to give him a platform and an environment to do that.”
In his two years at Annan, Galloway made 29 starts plus another 24 appearances from the bench, scoring two goals.
Galloway said: “After a lot of positive conversations with the manager I feel it’s the right move for me to progress as a player.
“I’m looking forward to getting started and working with some familiar faces. Personally I want to create a lot of chances and score goals, as well as working hard for the team and having a right good go at being in the top half of the table by the end of the season.”
