There’s a crucial Betfred Championship clash ahead for Barrow Raiders on Sunday when they travel to Greater Manchester to take on the Swinton Lions.
They are two of the five clubs sitting on eight points after 11 games and they are separated in the table by points difference, with Swinton boasting a better scoring differential. They will be aiming to make amends following their close 20-16 defeat to Batley Bulldogs last weekend.
Head coach Paul Crarey has named his 21-man squad to face the Lions and Amir Bourouh goes straight into contention to feature after returning to the club on a two-week loan deal from Salford Red Devils.
Delaine Gittens-Bedward and Brad Walker also return to the fold, with Greg Burke and Brett Carter making way.
Swinton haven’t announced their squad but they have confirmed the departure of Declan Patton with immediate effect.
A club statement said: “We had been approached by another club, and following discussions with that club and Declan himself, we concluded that it was in the best interests of all concerned if we agreed to his immediate departure.
“We part company on good terms and wish Declan the best of luck and success in his future career. We appreciate that Swinton supporters will be very disappointed at this news, as indeed are we, but the Board, Alan Kilshaw and his staff and all the players ask everyone to unite behind the Lions more than ever for our important match versus Barrow on Sunday, and for the remainder of the season.”
The Barrow squad is: Anderson-Moore, Gittens-Bedward, Bourouh, Broadbent, Bulman, Clarke, Costello, Cresswell, Douglas, Gillam, Greenwood, Johnston, Makin, Shaw, Silva, Stack, B Walker, T Walker, Wilkinson, Wood, Worthington.
