Barrow Raiders were unable to prevent Wakefield Trinity from continuing their unbeaten run since their fall from the Super League.
They were too strong for the South Cumbrians as they ran out comfortable winners 36-0 after putting in a top class display.
From the Barrow perspective, though, it was committed effort against a quality side and there was no doubt about the spirited way the Raiders went about their business and earned plaudits from their fans.
Trinity took only four minutes to open the scoring when they moved the ball wide for Oliver Pratt to go in for the try which went unconverted.
Barrow battled hard to stay in the contest but on 15 minutes Trinity scored again. This time it was Derrell Olpherts who dived over in the corner and Max Jowitt landed a fine conversion.
The Raiders almost got on the score-sheet soon afterwards when a smart move put Andrew Bulman in with an opportunity but as he seemed to be heading for the corner he was bundled into touch.
Jack Croft was sent to the sin bin on 25 minutes and during his absence Barrow got over through Ryan Shaw only for play to be brought back for a forward pass.
When Barrow continued to pressurise the Trinity line Shaw was knocked into touch as he headed for the line.
After going so close it was a bitter blow to Barrow when Wakefield scored again on 35 minutes through Jay Pitts, Jowitt converted for a 16-0 half-time lead.
Six minutes into the second-half Wakefield were on the score-sheet again with another try for Olpherts which went unconverted.
Olpherts went on to complete his hat-trick after 56 minutes, latching onto a Matt Ashurst pass after Barrow had been caught short of numbers out wide.
On 61 minutes former Whitehaven star Lachlan Walmsley, top try scorer in the Championship went over after great play from Caleb Uele. Walmsley took over the kicking and was successful.
Josh Griffin scored the final try 10 minutes from time and Walmsley converted. Barrow had been nilled, conceded seven tries but had still come out of the game with credit and their pride intact.
