Haven sign Hull KR duo on loan

Whitehaven Rugby League have signed on loan, for an initial two weeks, the Hull KR duo of AJ Wallace and Lennie Ellis.

Head coach Jonty Gorley has not been able to name a full 18 man squad in a number of previous fixtures so their arrival at the Ortus REC is a timely boost ahead of Sunday’s trip to take on Featherstone Rovers.

Wallace, 21, is a Jamaican international second rower who represented the country at the 2021 Rugby League World Cup and signed for Hull KR ahead of the 2024 season after making 43 appearances for Bradford Bulls in 2022 and 2023.

Ellis,18, is a young hooker who celebrates his birthday on Monday and will be getting his first taste of Championship rugby after making his debut for Rovers in their away defeat to Wigan Warriors in Round 21 of the 2023 Super League season.

Head coach Jonty Gorley said: “I have to thank the Vice Presidents, who without them we wouldn’t be able to bring these guys in.

“AJ is a good back rower and it’s what we need as we have a couple of niggles in these positions. I’m told Lennie is tough and he is good around the ruck which will he music to Newt’s (James Newton) ears with Jamie Doran being injured and missing for the next few weeks.”
