Unchanged squad for Whitehaven this weekend

Jonty Gorley (Ben Challis)

It can’t have happened many times but Whitehaven coach Jonty Gorley has been able name an unchanged squad of 18 players.

Gorley was delighted with last week’s win at Swinton so had little hesitation in announcing “as you were” when his squad came through unscathed.

It’s going to be a tough task to follow up as they travel to third placed Sheffield Eagles, who will be really fired up after losing their last two games, including an 8-6 reversal at Barrow last week.

As for Sheffield, head coach Mark Aston has named his 21-man squad and James Glover, Bayley Liu and Aaron Murphy all return into contention as Ryan Johnson, Mitch Clark and Ryan Millar drop out.

Whitehaven squad: Ross Ainley, Lewis Baxter, Jake Carter, Lucas Castle, Rio Corkill, Lennie Ellis, Will Evans, Lachlan Hanneghan, Noah High, Ryan King, Jake Maizen, Owen McCarron, James Newton, Joey Romeo, Perry Singleton, Neil Tchamambe, Curtis Teare, Huw Worthington.

Sheffield squad: Matty Marsh, Ben Jones-Bishop,  Kris Welham, James Glover, Matty Dawson-Jones, Cory Aston,  Eddie Battye, Vila Halafihi, Tyler Dickinson, Connor Bower, Joel Farrell, Titus Gwaze, Jack Hansen, Evan Hodgson, Blake Broadbent, Aaron Murphy, Izaac Farrell, Kyle Wood, Bayley Liu, Alex Foster, Jesse Sene-Lefao.
