A north Cumbrian pub is being given a day of free electricity to celebrate the Olympics.
The Spinners Arms in Cummersdale, near Carlisle, is one of 10 pubs nationwide to be given the free power tomorrow, Friday, August 2, by British Gas.
Team GB athletes competing in athletics, beach volleyball, rowing and swimming at the Paris games.
All of the pubs are signed up to British Gas’ PeakSave for Business trial. Over 2,500 businesses across the UK have already signed up to the trial, which aims to reward business customers for shifting their electricity usage to times when there’s less demand, or more renewable electricity available on the grid, supporting a greener energy supply.
British Gas is also extending its PeakSave hours to help the millions of homeowners tuning into the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The business will be offering households half-price electricity every Sunday from 9am to 5pm throughout the games until September 8, as well as Saturday August 3 and Saturday September 7.
To register for PeakSave all you need is to be a British Gas customer and have a smart meter. All savings will appear as credit on households’ energy bills.
