
There were two significant results in the latest round of matches in the West Cumbria Fours League, sponsored by Whitehaven Trophies.
They were at both ends of the table, too, affecting the battle to avoid the wooden spoon and the fight for the League title.
Vulcan Park recorded their first 7-0 win this season when they beat Seaton at home and, as a result, moved off the bottom of the table above their opponents as well as Workington B and Whitehaven B.
In the title race Whitehaven A moved to within three points of leaders Workington A when they defeated Fitz Park at Keswick 5-2. Before the game the two clubs were level on 64 points.
Workington A had no game last Friday and now have a game in hand over Whitehaven A but the two clubs have yet to play each other at Workington.

In the West Cumbria Mixed Triples League the semi-finals of the Knock-Out Cup have been played and the results were: Croft 5, Wigton 4 and Workington 9, Harris Park A 0.
