Carlisle United have now lost five of their six matches after a 2-1 defeat at Bradford City, which was down to one of their old boys.
Andy Cook, who started his career at Brunton Park, scored both goals for City to push them up to fifth in the table.
The latest defeat by Carlisle – who are in the process of finding a sporting director and a head coach to take charge – leaves them third bottom with only Accrington and pointless Morecambe below them.
Bradfordhad made a flying start thanks to a mistake by Jon Mellish on two minutes. A loose touch let-in Jamie Walker and his cross to Cook saw him find the bottom corner to leave former City keeper Harry Lewis helpless.
Charlie Wyke had his side’s best chance early on but missed badly while both on loan Dominic Sadi and Jordan Jones tested home keeper Sam Walker.
Bradford’s best opportunity to add to their lead came when the outstanding Richie Smallwood’s free-kick found Cook unmarked in front of goal. But instead of being the greedy striker and going for goal he tried to be unselfish and headed sideways for Olly Sanderson to fire over the bar.
Mellish made a crucial block to deny a free shot for the on-loan Fulham striker while at the other end Wyke hit the post.
Carlisle drew level on 58 minutes with a bizarre goal which left home keeper Walker red-faced. Harrison Neal flicked one towards goal and somehow underneath his own bar Walker fumbled it into the net.
Lewis pulled off a double save from Cook and Sanderson but it was Cook again who produced the goods on 70 minutes when he headed home from Tyreik Wright’s cross to win the game.
