A Cumbrian bakery has been named best in the North West in prestigious industry awards.
The team from Lovingly Artisan Bakery, based at Plumgarths near Kendal, and Althrincham Market, Manchester, were the winners in the annual Bakery Business Magazine National Bakery Awards.
Lovingly Artisan’s co-owners Aidan Monks and Catherine Connor, said: “Being presented with the award for Best Regional Bakery for the North West is amazing.
“The entire team at Plumgarths, near Kendal, and at Altrincham Market, Manchester work exceptionally hard week in and week out to ensure that all of our customers can enjoy exceptional bread.
“We take a huge amount of pride in what we do, sourcing the very best ingredients including organic flours, ancient grains, and quality malts to then be able to craft healthy and nutritious handmade artisan sourdoughs and pastries. This award win is a deserved pat on the back for the entire team and a tremendous thing for us all.”
Twelve regional winners were selected from 92 county champions, spanning Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and every corner of England. Alongside the regional champions the UK’s overall winner and recipients of six specialist category awards, including Social Enterprise Bakery of the Year and Outstanding Contribution to the Bakery Industry were also announced.
