Wath Brow A landed their third trophy of the season with a 28-12 win over Maryport, and they face the same opposition on Friday night when they bid for a Cumberland RL Grand Slam.
Saturday’s victory in the Firpress Printers Cumberland Cup final was in Maryport’s own back yard at the Athletic Ground, so they will be strong favourites to complete the four-timer on their own ground.

They couldn’t have asked for a better start when Daley Stables went over for the opening try after only three minutes and Greg Rooney added the conversion.
A Rooney penalty on 16 minutes extended the lead and they added their second try on 33 minutes when Tom Clarke crossed, again converted by Rooney.

Hornets took the opportunity to put a little more daylight between their opponents when Rooney popped over another penalty on 53 minutes.

Three minutes later Peter Caddy got through for a try which Rooney converted and at 22-6 going into the last quarter they were within touching distance of the trophy.
There were some late joy for Maryport when Carl Steele scored their second try on 71 minutes and Anderson again converted, but the final word deservedly went to Wath Brow. Caddy went in for his second try in the last minute and Rooney converted.
