A man has suffered a serious head injury in a Whitehaven assault.
Police are investigating the incident, which happened today, Monday October 7, on Duke Street near near Shakers Cocktail Bar, at around 12.50am.
The incident is reported to have involved two men. One, in his 40s, suffered a serious head injury and was taken to the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven.
A 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.
Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and saw the two men or the assault to contact them.
