Workington Reds have suffered another injury setback ahead of Saturday’s NPL Premier Division game against Worksop Town.
Young wing-back Tom Stephenson, who was carried off in Saturday’s FA Trophy tie with Bamber Bridge, had returned to training on Tuesday when he appeared to suffer a hamstring injury.
Stephenson, who had joined Reds from Holker Old Boys in the summer, had been cleaned out by the Bridge goalkeeper in a challenge which earned Reds the first of two penalties.
He had taken the full force of the keeper’s punch and was dazed for a time, but it was the way he had landed on his ankle which was the primary concern.
However he appeared to have recovered enough to train on Tuesday when he pulled up with the hamstring problem.
Reds already have Jordan Little out until Christmas and Dav Symington for a few weeks.
There is a chance that Kaedyn Kamara may be fit to resume against Worksop. The Preston loanee suffered a toe injury in training at Deepdale and has missed Reds last two games.

Worksop beat FC United of Manchester 2-0 in the FA Trophy on Saturday but had been stuttering in the League.
Before then they had lost twice at home in three days – 2-0 to Morpeth and 4-2 to Hebburn.
But ominously Worksop are yet to lose on the road with six wins and a draw.
Along with Macclesfield they have the best away record in the league.
They also have the best attack in the league with 34 goals and the second-best defence of 14 conceded. They have the best goal difference in the league with +20.
